"Russo-Ukraine War; China’s Rise; the Absent U.S., and the Future of the International Order": PPT of Informal Remarks Delivered at the ΠΣA Speaker Series; Pennsylvania State University

 

 

The students at the Penn State Beta Pi Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society, invited me to speak  to two questions:

1. How have international law and norms changed by  (1) the Russia-Ukraine War and, (2) the rise of China affected international law and norms?
(2) Does the rise of non-liberal orders in these and other countries suggest a changing legal landscape in the near future away from the liberal world order?

I was delighted to accept. The result was a lively and quite well informed discussion about issues, the solutions to which, much less their comprehensive identification, still are far from any sort of resolution.  The PowerPoint  used for  my informal remarks follow below, with great thanks to the ΠΣA chapter leadership and special thanks to Charles Ammon, Beta Pi Chapter President, and Dr. Amy T.
