Larry Catá Backer's comments on current issues in transnational law and policy. These essays focus on the constitution of regulatory communities (political, economic, and religious) as they manage their constituencies and the conflicts between them. The context is globalization. This is an academic field-free zone: expect to travel "without documents" through the sometimes strongly guarded boundaries of international relations, constitutional, international, comparative, and corporate law.

Now Available: Philip Alston, "International Human Rights" (NYU, revised and online access)

I am happy to pass along news of the in-line availability of the revised edition (open access) Philip Alston's book, International Human Rights (NYU 2024).

The textbook examines the world of contemporary human rights, including legal norms, political contexts and moral ideals. Given the breadth and complexity of the regime, it includes materials from a range of disciplines.

This comprehensively revised edition will be available free of charge and can be downloaded in either a single pdf file for the entire book or separate files for each of the eighteen chapters.
