President Trump, Executive Order Designating ANTIFA as a Domestic Terrorist Organization

 On 22 September 2025 President Trump designated ANTIFA as a domestic terrorist organization (Designating Antifa as a Domestic Terrorist Organization). His Administration also provided a Factsheet explaining the action (Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump Designates Antifa as a Domestic Terrorist Organization). 

The most interesting aspect of the action, not unexpected, is the definition of domestic terrorism that may be found in the Factsheet: "Antifa engages in coordinated efforts to obstruct enforcement of Federal laws, with the goal of achieving policy objectives by coercion and intimidation – this is domestic terrorism." It will be interesting to see how far this definition will be stretched as it is used to reach other domestic organizations.

"Antifa’s terror is part of the trend of Radical Left violence that has permeated the nation in recent years, incited by constant lies and vicious attacks against Republicans from unhinged Democrat politicians, well-funded leftist organizations, and their allies in the media."

DESIGNATING ANTIFA AS A DOMESTIC TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

Section 1.  Antifa as a Terrorist Threat.  Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law.  It uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals.  This campaign involves coordinated efforts to obstruct enforcement of Federal laws through armed standoffs with law enforcement, organized riots, violent assaults on Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other law enforcement officers, and routine doxing of and other threats against political figures and activists.  Antifa recruits, trains, and radicalizes young Americans to engage in this violence and suppression of political activity, then employs elaborate means and mechanisms to shield the identities of its operatives, conceal its funding sources and operations in an effort to frustrate law enforcement, and recruit additional members.  Individuals associated with and acting on behalf of Antifa further coordinate with other organizations and entities for the purpose of spreading, fomenting, and advancing political violence and suppressing lawful political speech.  This organized effort designed to achieve policy objectives by coercion and intimidation is domestic terrorism.

Sec. 2.  Designation as a Domestic Terrorist Organization.  Because of the aforementioned pattern of political violence designed to suppress lawful political activity and obstruct the rule of law, I hereby designate Antifa as a “domestic terrorist organization.”  All relevant executive departments and agencies shall utilize all applicable authorities to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations — especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa, or for which Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa provided material support, including necessary investigatory and prosecutorial actions against those who fund such operations. 

Sec. 3.  General Provisions.  (a)  This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law.  This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

(b)  This order shall be published in the Federal Register.

DESIGNATING ANTIFA AS A DOMESTIC TERRORIST ORGANIZATION: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Order to designate Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.

• The Order notes that Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that calls for the overthrow of the U.S. government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law—using illegal means, including violence and terrorism, to accomplish these goals.
• The Order directs the Federal government to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle all illegal operations conducted by Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa. It also calls for investigating, disrupting, and dismantling the funding sources behind such operations.

DISMANTLING ANTIFA’S USE OF POLITICAL VIOLENCE: Antifa engages in coordinated efforts to obstruct enforcement of Federal laws, with the goal of achieving policy objectives by coercion and intimidation – this is domestic terrorism.

• Antifa has engaged in armed standoffs with law enforcement, organized riots, violently assaulted ICE and other law enforcement officers, and engages in routine doxing of political figures and activists, threatening public safety.
  • ICE officers are now facing a 1000% increase in assaults against them.
  • An Antifa-affiliated group in Portland, Oregon, doxed ICE officers, publishing their names, pictures, and personal addresses online.
  • A journalist was violently assaulted by Antifa protestors while reporting on a protest in Portland.
  • Using pepper spray, baseball bats, and tasers, Antifa members violently attacked Trump supporters during a Patriot March in Pacific Beach, California.
• The group recruits and radicalizes young Americans to engage in this violence and works to conceal identities of members and funding sources, frustrating law enforcement efforts.
• Antifa’s efforts to advance political violence and suppress lawful political speech must be stopped.

RESTORING LAW AND ORDER: Every American deserves to be safe, and President Trump is dedicated to restoring law and order in communities across the United States.

• President Trump: “I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.”
• President Trump has been relentless in his efforts to combat terrorism, from designating cartels as foreign terrorist organizations to ordering military strikes on narcoterrorists.
• President Trump has deployed Federal resources to stop the violence in our cities, including sending the National Guard to Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Memphis.

President Trump Isn’t Backing Down from Crushing Radical Left Violence

President Donald J. Trump is right: the violence problem is on the Left. That’s why he just designated Antifa — a network of Radical Left terrorists that aim to overthrow the government through violence and agitation — as a domestic terrorist organization.

Antifa has a long history of terrorizing our communities:

• In July 2025, members of an Antifa cell ambushed officers at an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas. After defacing vehicles with anti-ICE graffiti — including “ICE pig” and “F— you pigs” — the assailants lured officers out of the building and opened fire, shooting one officer in the neck.
• In July 2025, deranged rioters viciously assaulted federal agents at an ICE facility in Portland, Oregon. Officers at the facility — which had been targeted by the local Antifa terror cell for weeks — were kicked, punched, and targeted with an “incendiary device.”
• In February 2024, a transgender Antifa terrorist detonated an explosive device outside the office of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall. The terrorist left behind numerous stickers with Antifa slogans and anarchist symbols.
• In March 2023, Antifa radicals laid siege to a planned police training center in Atlanta, Georgia. They attacked police with Molotov cocktails, booby traps, and commercial-grade fireworks, and destroyed construction equipment in what local police described as “anarchy.”
• In January 2023, Antifa members were charged with vandalizing pregnancy resource centers in Florida. The individuals were linked to the radical group “Jane’s Revenge,” which firebombed pro-life facilities and vandalized churches throughout 2022.
• In January 2022, an Antifa radical was arrested for bringing a pipe bomb to a pro-Trump event. The individual was spotted wearing all-black clothing and charged with multiple counts of possessing homemade explosive devices.
• In January 2021, an Antifa supporter threatened to shoot police officers and Trump supporters outside the Florida State Capitol. The suspect was tied to the Radical Left’s violent protests in Seattle’s “autonomous zone,” which resulted in several deaths.
• In August 2020, a self-identified Antifa member shot and killed a Patriot Prayer supporter during a riot in Portland. The suspect was later killed after he brandished a weapon while law enforcement attempted to apprehend him on murder charges.
• In 2020, Antifa terrorists designated a substantial portion of the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle as a so called “autonomous zone,” taking it over and enacting its own delusional structure of self-governance. This led to violent clashes with police and multiple deaths and injuries.
• In July 2019, another self-proclaimed Antifa radical attacked an ICE facility in Tacoma, Washington. The “known anarchist” was heavily armed and attempted to ignite a 500-gallon propane tank; after he ignored commands to drop his weapon, he was killed by police.
• In 2017, Antifa radicals threw rocks at police and attacked the attendees of several conservative political events at the University of California, Berkeley. In one instance, the violence caused the police chief to order his officers to evacuate a park while under siege.

Antifa’s terror is part of the trend of Radical Left violence that has permeated the nation in recent years, incited by constant lies and vicious attacks against Republicans from unhinged Democrat politicians, well-funded leftist organizations, and their allies in the media.

• In 2025, Charlie Kirk was assassinated by a Radical Left terrorist.
• In 2025, Tesla dealerships and vehicles across the country were firebombed as deranged left-wing lunatics protested the Trump Administration.
• In 2025, Radical Left lunatics rioted in Los Angeles — attacking law enforcement, hurling projectiles at police cruisers, burning vehicles, and shutting down freeways.
• In 2025, leftists ambushed, assaulted, and attacked ICE officers and Border Patrol agents in plots across the country.
• In 2025, two Israeli embassy staffers were killed in Washington, D.C., by a deranged man who shouted “Free Palestine!” before shooting them.
• In 2025, Republican Party of New Mexico offices were targeted by an arson attack and graffitied with “ICE = KKK” slogans.
• In 2025, the Republican Party of Virginia’s Manassas headquarters were vandalized on Independence Day.
• In 2025, a man threw two Molotov cocktails at the Dickinson County Republican Committee headquarters in Michigan “to send a message.”
• In 2025, two children were killed and 17 people were injured at a Catholic church in Minnesota by a transgender individual whose manifesto included plans to “kill Donald Trump.”
• In 2025, two men were arrested after they tried to blow up a Fox Affiliate’s news van by planting an incendiary device beneath it.
• In 2024, leftists celebrated Luigi Mangione for gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
• In 2024, President Trump was shot in an attempted assassination at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Six weeks later, President Trump was targeted in a second assassination attempt in Palm Beach, Florida.
• In 2024, the Republican National Committee headquarters was evacuated “after receiving vials of blood addressed to Trump.”
• In 2022, a violent mob invaded a Turning Point USA event at the University of New Mexico, forcing speaker Tomi Lahren and others to barricade themselves.
• In 2022, a canvasser for then-Sen. Marco Rubio’s campaign was brutally attacked “because he was a Republican.”
• In 2022, a deranged transgender individual attempted to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home in Maryland.
• In 2022, a pro-life office was targeted by an arson attack and graffitied with “if abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either.”
• In 2022, a North Dakota man fatally struck a teenager with his vehicle because he believed the victim was a “Republican extremist.”
• In 2020, leftists rioted in cities across the country in response to George Floyd, causing up to $2 billion in damage and the deaths of at least 19 people.
• In 2020, leftists surrounded and violently accosted Sen. Rand Paul and his wife as they were leaving the Republican National Convention.
• In 2017, an anti-Trump socialist opened fire on Members of Congress playing baseball, wounding Rep. Steve Scalise and four others.

This is a time that demands fearless and courageous leadership — not moral cowardice, indecision, or the lack of fortitude to call this what it is: an epidemic of Radical Left violence.
