Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy: Call for Proposed Papers & Panels for 2026 Annual Meeting--Cuba on the Precipice of Change?

I am delighted to pass along the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy's Call for Proposed Papers & Panels for our 2026 Annual Meeting, the theme of which is Cuba on the Precipice of Change?

Information appears below.

The Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy (ASCE) is accepting proposal submissions for its 2026 Annual Conference, occurring on September 25 & 26, bringing together scholars, experts, and practitioners to examine Cuba’s economic, legal, and social landscape at a critical juncture.

This year’s theme, “Cuba on the Precipice of Change?” considers whether the country is nearing a decisive turning point.  Amid economic strain, demographic shifts, and evolving policy signals, we invite papers and panels that assess Cuba’s current trajectory and potential paths forward, including structural reform, institutional change, private sector development, and international engagement.

Contributions may also address related topics such as political and social economy, economic history, comparative transition experiences, international commercial relations, migration and demography, labor markets, and the role of the Cuban diaspora.

To support topic development, the conference includes a highlighted list of suggested areas. These may serve as a useful guide for generating paper or panel ideas.

Guidelines to be considered:

Author Bios: Maximum 150 words

Deadline: July 1, 2026
